Why I Now Create Christian Art That Feels Like Worship

Last updated on April 20th, 2026 at 02:53 pm

In my previous post, I shared how those early years of exploration… from sketchnotes and different types of art to design… slowly brought me back to faith-based creativity. It wasn’t always clear which way to go, but one thing stayed constant: my desire to create art that reflects my faith.

Exploring Children’s Illustration

After I began sharing Christian art, my style started to lean more playful and storybook-like. I was drawn to children’s illustration and naturally began exploring that path.

It made sense at the time. I enjoyed drawing fun and whimsical characters. And my skills improved. I even built a portfolio with hopes of illustrating children’s books one day.

But as time passed, something shifted.

I realized I was chasing a version of creativity that didn’t feel completely aligned with what I wanted to say. The art I was making didn’t always carry the message my heart wanted to tell. (That said, maybe I’d illustrate faith-based children’s books someday!)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace… — 1 Peter 4:10

Returning to Faith-Based Art

I was constantly pulled back to the art I made from my walk with God… simple reminders of His presence in everyday life. It felt like something I was meant to keep returning to, even if there was no grand revelation or audible call.

It became clear: I didn’t want to chase trends for the sake of it. I wanted to create as a form of worship.

Art that slows you down.

Art that reflects real life…

Art that holds space for the uncertainty, loss, and doubts.

But also the peace and joy found in trusting God.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. — Isaiah 26:3

A Vision That Grows With Me

Now, I’m building a body of work that reflects what I’ve lived through… and what I’m still learning.

Art that doesn’t sit in one neat category… but grows alongside my walk with God.

Art that weaves together the things I love: photography, poetry, reflection, design… all of it shaped by faith.

I want it to feel honest. Imperfect. Alive.

This is more than a “niche.” It’s about telling the truth… not just about my own story, but the truth of God’s presence in the process.

He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. — Philippians 1:6

Trusting (God in) the Path Ahead

I still don’t know exactly where this will lead.

Regardless… I’m showing up… with open hands and a heart that wants to honor God through creativity.

Because I believe He’s faithful.

And even when I don’t have the full picture… I know He’s still writing the story.

Jeremiah 29:11 - God has plans to prosper you, and to give you hope and a future.
