What I’m Learning About God’s Heart in Seasons of Healing

Last updated on January 30th, 2026 at 06:46 pm

When Healing Seems Slow

There are seasons where everything feels heavy at once.

When your thoughts run ahead of you… when your heart aches for clarity…

When the weight of what you’re carrying makes you wonder if you’re supposed to be stronger than this.

I’ve had many nights like that.

Nights where my prayers felt insignificant.

Where the things I cried about didn’t seem to change.

Where I questioned if I’d somehow fallen behind in life, behind in healing, behind in becoming who I hoped I would be.

But in those quiet, overwhelmed moments, I’m always brought back to one simple truth:

I don’t have to carry all of this alone.

He doesn’t leave when I’m struggling to trust Him.

His grace doesn’t disappear when I’m exhausted.

His love doesn’t get tired of my repeated prayers.

His presence holds me, even when I feel worn down by the waiting.

What Healing Really Looks Like

I used to believe healing happened in one big defining moment.

A breakthrough.

A turning point.

A “suddenly everything makes sense” kind of story.

But over time, I’ve realized healing doesn’t always arrive that way.

Sometimes healing looks like finally resting.

Sometimes it whispers through tears.

Sometimes it unfolds in ways you only recognize later.

Psalm 147:3 has been on my heart lately:

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Healing could take time, and God meets me in that in-between, with comfort, with care, with patience.

When You Feel Unseen or Unheard

There were days I prayed and it felt like I was just talking to myself.

But looking back, I see God holding every whispered prayer… even the ones I couldn’t bring myself to say out loud.

Being heard by God doesn’t always look like instant answers.

Sometimes it looks like endurance.

Sometimes it looks like a softened heart.

Sometimes it looks like the strength to get through a day you didn’t think you could handle.

Healing is still happening… even when I don’t notice it right away.

The Parts of My Story I Didn’t Want

I never planned for my creative journey to begin with so much ache.

I didn’t want grief to be the spark.

I didn’t want the slow, painful chapters that shaped me more than I expected.

But God doesn’t waste the parts of my story that hurt.

He rebuilds me through them.

He gathers what feels torn.

He restores what feels lost.

He brings beauty from beginnings I never would’ve chosen.

And slowly, I’m learning to see my scars not as unwanted moments… but as places God has touched with His healing.

A Glimpse Into the Collection

These experiences and thoughts are what shaped my art collection, Held in the Healing.

It’s a series of analog-style mixed media torn-paper collages layered with bold, warm colors, textures, and hand-touched, hand-lettered Scriptures, and faith-filled reminders like:

  • God heals the brokenhearted. – Psalm 147:3
  • I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you… – 2 Kings 20:5
  • Nothing was lost if Jesus was gained.
  • God turns your pain into purpose, your struggles into strength.
  • God is always the therapy for everything that feels heavy.

Every piece was created in the middle of my own slow healing journey…

They’re visual reminders that God restores us piece by piece… in His perfect timing.

Closing Reflection

If you’re in a season where you’re praying, waiting, or trying to find your footing again… I hope this reminds you:

You’re not weak for feeling the weight of it.

You’re not forgotten for needing healing.

You’re not behind for moving slowly.

God’s still here. Working in the unseen.

Healing may not look the way you expected… but it’s happening.

And you’re being carried through it with His love.
