Finding Rest in God When You Feel Behind in Life

Learning to Rest When Worry Feels Easier

I’ve spent so much time trying to “figure it all out.”

If I could just plan better, think faster, take quicker actions… maybe I wouldn’t feel so behind.

So uncertain.

So late to everything I thought I’d have figured out by now.

But these days, I’ve been learning that clarity isn’t always proof of control… and that sometimes, peace begins where striving ends.

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” – Matthew 6:27 (NIV)

This verse always brings me back to reality. Because no matter how many times I replay the “what ifs,” it never changes the outcome. Worry doesn’t move mountains… faith does.

And maybe what God’s been revealing to me lately is this:

It was never about getting everything right.

It’s about learning to rest in the truth that He already knows the way forward.

When God Has Already Worked It Out

There’s a restful kind of freedom in letting go. In whispering, “God, I don’t know what I’m doing, but I trust that You do.”

That surrender doesn’t mean you stop caring… it just means you stop carrying what was never meant to be yours alone.

Because maybe what we call uncertainty… is really just God holding things together in ways we can’t yet see.

And so I come back to this simple reminder I shared awhile ago – “Don’t stress about something God has already worked out.”

Those words have been my anchor in moments when my thoughts spiral faster than my prayers can keep up.

Finding Peace in Small, Creative Ways

In this season of learning to rest, I’ve found that simple, creative moments help me slow down and breathe again.

Sometimes that looks like journaling, sketching, or simply coloring… letting Scripture settle into my heart one page at a time.

That’s what inspired my newest project, the Cozy Faith Coloring Book Devotional — a printable collection of hand-drawn Bible verse-inspired coloring pages on peace, rest, and trust.

Each page is a reminder to pause, breathe, and reflect on God’s Word.

Whether it’s “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) or “My peace I give you” (John 14:27)… every verse points back to the One who holds all things together.

If you’ve been feeling weary or overwhelmed lately, maybe this could be a gentle way to rest your mind while renewing your faith.

You can find it here if you’d like to explore it for your quiet time.

Resting in His Peace

Worry doesn’t add to our lives… it only takes away from the peace already promised to us.

So today, may you breathe a little lighter.

May you let go of what’s out of your hands, and remember Who’s holding it all together.

Because even when you don’t see how it’ll all work out…

He already has. ✨
