Casting My Fears and Worries: Finding Peace in God’s Care

Casting My Cares: A Gentle Reflection on 1 Peter 5:7
There are moments when worry feels manageable… and moments when it suddenly feels overwhelming.
Lately, I’ve been noticing how easily my thoughts drift toward what’s ahead… the unknowns, the decisions I still question, the regrets I replay in my mind.
Sometimes the weight comes from fear of the future. Other times, it comes from looking back and wondering if I chose right.
In those moments…I need a reminder.
That God is here with me.
That I don’t have to carry the weight of everything alone…
Cast All Your Anxiety on Him, Because He Cares for You
This hand-lettered Bible verse became the heart of this artwork.
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7
When I was creating this piece, this verse was like an open invitation.
Not “stop worrying,” but bring it to God. Not “be stronger,” but you’re allowed to let go.
The illustrated mailbox filled with letters came from that thought. Worries often feel like things we keep drafting but never send… thoughts we carry around instead of handing over. I wanted this artwork to feel familiar and safe, like a place where those worries could finally be left.
The warm colors, hand-painted textures, and cozy details reflect how God’s care feels to me – personal, gentle, and always near.
Learning to Trust God With What’s Ahead
I’ve realized how easily fear disguises itself as preparation. It tells me that if I worry enough, I’ll be ready for whatever comes next.
But Scripture reminds me that fear isn’t meant to lead.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7
Trusting God doesn’t mean pretending I’m not afraid. It means choosing not to let fear make all my decisions. It means learning to look ahead with expectancy instead of dread… believing that the same God who has carried me through before is already present in what’s coming.
Choosing Gratitude When Worry Gets Loud
When my mind’s in chaos, gratitude becomes a way of grounding myself.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. – Psalm 107:1
Gratitude doesn’t remove uncertainty. But it reminds me of what’s already true… of prayers that have been answered, of care that’s already been shown, of faithfulness I’ve already experienced.
From that place, releasing my worries feels less like loss… and more like trust.
Resting in God’s Care
Creating this vintage-inspired Christian illustration felt like an act of surrender. A way of saying to God, “Here are the things I don’t know how to carry anymore.”
If you’re feeling weighed down too… by the future, the past, or everything in between… I hope this artwork and these words remind you that you’re not alone in it.
You’re allowed to bring every worry to Him.
You’re deeply cared for.
And you don’t have to rush yourself into having it all figured out.
With love and warmth,
Nicole
