Even the Sparrows Are Seen: Trusting God Through Uncertainty

Seasons of Change

This period of the year feels especially dear to me.

The turning of the leaves, the shifting of light… it reminds me that life, too, moves in seasons.

Almost two years ago, Void to Light Studio began as just a creative outlet. Since then, I’ve walked through moments of exploration, trial and error, and seasons of uncertainty. Even now, the road ahead often feels unclear. And sometimes, I wrestle with the consuming thought that… I might just not be good enough to “make this work”.

There are days when my worth feels tied to whether my art measures up, or whether I truly belong in this space. But then I’m reminded of what’s true:

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. — Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)

My identity isn’t found in my success, or in how certain my next steps look. It’s found in Him. And His grace allows me to show up with a heart of gratitude… not to prove myself to those around me, but simply to honor Him, and remember His constant presence.

A Faithful God

Each day, I return to His promises:

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits. — Psalm 68:19 (NKJV)

The seasons shift, but God does not. His Word stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). And because of that, I can trust that even when I don’t see the full map ahead, He has already gone before me.

This gives me courage to keep creating… to keep placing brushstrokes, layering textures, and building artworks that reflect His steady presence.

Even the Sparrows Matter

When I illustrated this verse from Isaiah 40:8, I chose to include sparrows… small, seemingly insignificant birds. In the Bible, sparrows are mentioned often as reminders of God’s attentive care:

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care… So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” — Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)

Even the smallest creatures are seen and valued. And if God so carefully watches over sparrows, how much more does He watch over us, His beloved children?

To me, the sparrow is a symbol of hope in seasons of doubt… a reminder that God’s loving eye is always on us, even when we feel small… even when we feel unsure.

Resting in the God Who Never Changes

Creating in this season has been an act of trust. A way of saying, “Lord, I don’t know all the answers, but I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep my focus on You.”

Maybe you’re in your own season of change, too. If so, I hope these words and this little corner of art can remind you that your worth isn’t measured by certainty or clarity, but by the God who calls you His own.

Even when the road ahead feels uncertain, He’s always with you. He paves your way forward. And that gives you reason to keep going. May you pause… and rest in this: you’re not alone. Seasons shift, but the One who holds you does not. 💛🍁
